How diagnosis works
Four steps, in this order, every time
Diagnosis-first is the whole method: measure, write it down, then price it. It is also why every job, gas filling included, is quoted in writing after the checkup.

We test before we quote
The free 30-point A/C and electrical checkup runs first, about 15 minutes, with a written report of what was measured.

You get the estimate in writing
The report says what was found. Gas filling, like everything else, is quoted in writing after the checkup, and nothing starts until you approve it.

No work starts until you approve
Nothing is opened up or replaced before you say yes to the estimate. If the diagnosis changes the scope, you hear about it first.

Repaired, then checked again
The approved work is done and the car is checked again before handover.
How the cold is made
Four parts make the cold. Any one of them can stop it.
That is why a car that is not cooling gets tested in order, not guessed at. The symptom at the vent is the same whichever part has failed.
01CompressorPressurises the refrigerant and pushes it round the loop.
02CondenserAt the front of the car. Sheds the heat the cabin gave up.
03Expansion valveDrops the pressure, which is what turns the refrigerant cold.
04EvaporatorBehind the dashboard. Cools the air the blower sends to the vents.

Sits at the front, behind the grille. Blocked fins or a leak here shows up as weak cooling in traffic and normal cooling on the move.

Why diagnosis-first
Replacing the wrong part is the expensive way to fix a car
Most “A/C not cooling” jobs have more than one plausible cause. Testing first costs you fifteen minutes; skipping it costs a part that was never the problem.
The fault is measured, not guessed
Gauges, scanner and a load test come before a parts recommendation. That is what the written report records.

Electrical faults are measured, not swapped at
Battery, alternator and starter are load-tested together and the scan tool is read before a part is named. An overnight drain is a wiring question first.

The test is whether it is cold when you drive it

What is the A/C Gas + Airflow Refresh?
Gas filling with a leak check, plus the cabin filter and vent airflow service. What it costs depends on the car: one with front and rear A/C takes more gas, and a cabin filter we have to order for the model costs more than one we stock. The counter confirms the total before the work starts.
